Worship on Zoom and Facebook
Our Sunday morning worship is held via Zoom with a publicly available link. Our rector, music director, and a parish warden serve as “hosts” for the meeting and are responsible for security and, as needed, giving screensharing permissions and recording elements of the service (Speaker View only). Generally, the sermon is the only portion of the service which is recorded and ample notice is provided whenever anything else will be recorded as well. Worship attendees who keep their mics on mute are not captured in the recording.
The recorded elements are edited and posted to the Church of the Ascension website, Facebook and Youtube pages as appropriate. They are deleted from the Zoom cloud the following week and from Facebook and Youtube two weeks later. The files are stored on a password-protected computer.
With specific permission, elements of service recordings (e.g. sermons or presentations) may be posted separately on the church website or Facebook page and kept longer.
Other Zoom Gatherings
We provide a mix of publicly available and on-request Zoom meetings for study and fellowship. Regardless of how one obtains the Zoom link, all of the meetings are password protected and the hosts know how to use Zoom’s security features. These gatherings are not recorded unless explicitly stated otherwise.
