Environmental Stewardship

Caring for God’s beautiful creation has long been intrinsic to Ascension’s way of being.  In 2001, the church was recognized by the Diocese for its environmental efforts with the first-ever Green Church Award.  These efforts include composting years before the green bin program was introduced, adding bicycle racks to encourage active transportation, and adopting Bullfrog electricity.

The church continues

  • to look for ways to reduce its carbon footprint – Greening the Building
  • to value the land upon which its foundation is built – Renewing the Grounds
  • to share its bounty – Seed Library
